Comment: This docking station is pretty good. My only disappointments were that docking adaptors were not included and I cannot play radio on my 5th generation nano because there is no aerial facility.

Summary: Almost iPhone compatiable
Comment: I received one of these units as a present from the Wife to have in the bedroom as a charger, and to play music to help me get off to sleep (I work shifts). The unit is nice and compact, but suprisingly weighty, and fits very well on the bedside unit. The plastics used are a bit cheap looking, and the volume buttons a little clicky in operation, apart from that I found the styling very contempory. The power button and AUX input socket are on the back of the unit, which I've found to be a bit of a pain to locate in the dark, or while lying in bed. Also there is no headphone socket, which would have been nice (plugging in headphones into your iPhone/iPod while connected to the IDS-01 does not disable the speakers#.
With regards to operation, I was pleased to find that my iPhone connected ok even with a silicone case on. The connector is angled slightly backwards, so you have to be carefull to get the angle right when connecting in case you damage it. This is especially important if you have a cover on your iPhone/iPod, as you will not be able to see the socket properly as you connect it.
As soon as the iPhone is connected #even when the IDS-01 is powered off# it pops up with a message stating that this device is not designed for the iPhone, and asks if you want to put the iPhone into Airplane mode.
As soon as the IDS-01 is powered on it starts playing the last played music track. As this is a basic system there is no remote control, but using the iPnone screen is pretty painless. The sound quality is suprisinly good for such a small unit and remains very clear as the volume is increased. At the top volume there is noticable distortion but I found a lower volume #without and distortion) more than adequate to fill the bedroom. Bass, although not fantastic, is ok. This is probably helped by the weight of the unit.
A number of reviewers have reported interference when using an iPhone with the IDS-01. I too have had this issue, but not all the time. Sometimes I plug it in and I get interference, and sometimes I don't. It's very odd, as I've left my iPhone in normal mode and not had any interference, then put it into airplane mode and got interference. When I do get interference, I personally find it not too much of a distration. When the music stops you'll occasionally get a pulsing hum through the speakers. This also happens if you use the touch screen on the iPhone while its connected, as each action produces a pulse of humming over the speakers.
Overall though I still think this is a great unit for the price with suprisingly good sound quality. The additional feature of using the unit using batteries is also good. I've only done this once when sitting in the garden, and I found the volume perfectly ok to overcome any background noises.

Comment: Having read previous reviews I took a chance and bought it. Glad I did, what an excellent product. Move it around the house, main, or battery quality of sound in my view excellent. Once again thank you Amazon for your excellent service.
