Summary: Great camera for the price
Comment: I bought one of these for myself, and as my sister who is a keen photographer showed a more than keen interest in it, i also bought her one for the next christmas, it is very simple to use with enough features to get some surprisingly good photos. There is the option of adding extra lens for different conditions which is useful. The zoom is quite good, and macro setting for close up pictures is really good too. Overall i would recommend this if you want a bit more than the point and shoot type of camera as it is simple to use, takes good pictures and isn't really that expensive.

Summary: Good, but could be better.
Comment: I have had this camera for a year and a bit now and have got to know it quite well; the way I see it, it is a camera that is trying to be a DSLR (ie. big expensive camera) but hasn't quite managed - but then, that is reflected in the price.
It does well in general, providing good pictures fairly easily. It has a fairly effective autofucus and a good zoom. The grip is also very nice, but needs small hands otherwise you'll find your fingers with nowhere to go. The buttons are well laid out and easy to use with the exception of the continuous shooting button, that is awkward to hit get with either your finger or thumb. The menus are also well logical and simple to use.
In use the non PASM modes are good IMO, and seem to get good shots. PASM modes- if your interested in these you'll know what I mean by PASM - are a nice feature, but dont really cut it; the camera starts running out of buttons you can press at this point. This means that it is slow to set up a shot, which is very annoying for those moments when you the shot is constantly changing. Especially manual focusing suffers from this with it taking a very long time to get what you want.
The instruction manual is very good, not only telling you how to use options, but telling you how to use them effectively as well. The two and an half inch screen is also nice enough, but the EVF (electronic view finder)is far nicer to use.
As mentioned in a earlier review the camera eats batteries quickly when connected to the computer, so take that reviews advice and get an SD card reader.

Overall, a good value camera trying to punch above its weight.

Summary: Qulaity Pics & Vids with the S5800
Comment: I have used this Camera for a couple of years now and am constantly impressed by the quality of the pictures and the video. I am not a Camera expert at all and couldn't tell you all about the various features the Camera has. What I can say is that I go to a lot of concerts and take photos and I've always been blown away by how good they come out.
Many people seem to have problems with the battery life, my suggestion is to get Lithium batteries. They have lasted up to five concerts before I have needed to change them. That's pretty good seeing that I often take between 200-300 pictures a concert (and a couple of videos as well).

Summary: Fit for purpose
Comment: Bought this camera for a relation who saw the 5700 model i had bought for myself a year earlier. Like me she is not a camera buff, just wants something reliable, works well does what it says on the box and doesn't eat batteries. If this is what you want this camera could be for you. The price from supplier was good, dispatch was quick, secure and well packed.
