Summary: Do Not Buy!!!
Comment: Long sync time, vocals sound faint and tinny, despite equaliser changes, pause function is unresponsive, completle un-userfreindly, and the screen flickers irritatingly when navigating the menu. Looks good, but is actually very bad. Sorry Archos, but you would be a lot better off with somthing from sandisk.

Summary: Neat device, but not perfect
Comment: The Archos 2 works for me as a simple MP3 player, but it has some imperfections. It does not distinguish between albums with small differences in title, in my case a set of language learning CDs, which it lumps together as a single album. When playing it often does not respond to the pause button without several presses. It does not provide for 'rewind' within a track, which I would like: one can only move on or back to the start of a track.

On the positive side it is small and quite elegant. I think that it is reasonably priced for what you get.

Summary: Don't judge a book by its cover
Comment: I bought the Archos 2 as a inexpensive, small mp3 player.

It does have some very good benefits:
- At £40 its 1/3rd the price of a Nano
- It is sleek, and light
- It has FM, a Mic, and SD Card compatibility
- DRAG & DROP!!! No syncing with other software for your music

The drawbacks are:
- A really really bad User Interface (primitive). The Creative Nomad I bought in 2001 comes to mind.
- Takes a long time to boot up (as far as mp3 players go). Takes about 5-8 seconds to load up when compared to most which are instantaneous
- No AAC support

Basically, it cannot replace a Nano. But it is a really good, cheap mp3 player. You won't be embarassed carrying it around at all, but the user interface is pretty poor. So if you are using for the gym, then its perfect. But if you want to use it as your primary Mp3 player, and you have the cash to buy a Nano then would not recommend it.

3.5 out of 5

Summary: Best MP3 I've bought
Comment: After reading the on line reviews I purchased this MP3 player. When it arrived I just plugged it into my computer and downloaded my music. Brilliant, its far better than the advent player I had before. Better facilities and clearer display. I love it. I also ordered the recommended slim line case. This turned out to be a massive soft pouch. No use whatsoever, but I returned it without any bother, only cost me a 2nd class stamp.

Summary: not as good as i hoped...
Comment: The sounds good... but then i have yet to hear an MP3 player that has bad sound!

It does not continue where it left off... so turn the machine off and then back on and you have to go through the kinda clunky menu system to find the album you were listening to...

The skip forward button ( bottom left hand corner) on mine needs repeated tapping to function... this does my head in... it should work with a gentle touch surely? I can see me pushing it too hard one day and me finger poppin out the back....

Once again, at this price, its fine.... but will it stand the test of time?

My stereo seperates are still going strong after 25 years... but thats another story...
